* The Jefferson Cup is an invitational competition limited to approximately 500 American wineries pre-selected for their fine viticulture and winemaking. Tiger Mountain, which has been asked to participate for the past three years, is so far the only Georgia winery invited. The best wines are given meritorious ratings, not medals. In 2005, out of 540 wines, 245 received Certificates of Merit (Including TMV's 03, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Tannat), and 122, including Tiger Mountain's '04 Petit Manseng, were named "great wines." Two years ago, Tiger Mountain's Cabernet Franc was one of 50 wines named Jefferson Cup "honoree."
